Koyasu Kannon Statue
Mizunuma, Kurohonecho, Kiryu City
Hoshino Family Kannon-Do
This is a statue of the eleven-faced sitting Kannon, or Goddess of Mercy. The circular carved statue is about 1 meter tall and is a delicately carved, exquisite work of art. The statue dates from 1790.

*With Jizo, Kannon is one of the most popular of all bodhisattvas in Japan. As the personification of infinite compassion, Kannon is believed to deliver all beings from danger when the name Kannon, meaning "the one who hears their cries," is invoked.
