Enman-Ji is a Koyasan Shingon Sect Buddhist temple. The temple is dedicated to the Buddhist saint, Koku Bosatsu. As a result of fire, none of the old records remain, so little is known about the temple's history, however, it is said to have been established by the monk, Kobo Daishi in the year 1800 while he was in the Kanto area prosylitizing.

One of the temple treasures is the temple bell, prized by the local people since the Edo Period (1600- 1868). As a result, during World War II, the temple bell was not procured by the government for scrap metal to make weaponry as were so many other metal ornaments / machines.
